Yep, that's right it's my first flash game, Asteroids Boss.

If you don't like Asteroids-style games, I don't need to hear about that Razz

, but if you enjoy the game, or if you have any problems or suggestions, please post them here.

Since I wrote this game, I can actually make adjustments to the internals of the game, if necessary.

I was never much of a fan of asteroids but this game is very entertaining and addicting. I did find it awkward that the shoot key was ctrl and not the space bar. Overall it is a great game : 8 out of 10

Very good effort! I too found it awkward that CTRL was the fire button. I also found the control of the ship to be sluggish.

Okay, I've must agree I've been annoyed at games that use CTRL key as well, because it can have side-effects. I will make an adjustment for that soon.

CM, tell me more about ship. Is the thrust, or turning or both? I've coded the game such that no matter how fast or slow your computer is, the game should keep moving at the same pace. (Basically this means game gets jumpy on a slower machine, instead of the gameplay slowing down.) Are you seeing a strobey-look to the game, like frames are missing?

Nothing like that. I just find the thrust to be lagging. I'll hold the button and eventually it goes. Some of the asteroids come quickly not allowing time to move due to the lack of thrust.

matman, that may be because the game was created with the lastest version of Flash, try downloading the latest Flash Player and see if that helps...

Those little green space ships shoot awful fast. Sometimes you just can't dodge the shots. There isn't time. Even from a distance.

It's true the higher you get in the levels, the meaner they get.

When I got my first job and first apartment, I bought a coin-op Asteroids Deluxe game, and had the luxury of getting a lot of practice and really studying the game. The highest score I was ever able to get was almost 80,000 points. The spaceships and those drone things got really mean and fast, I remember that at the higher levels the only way to stay alive once most of the rocks were gone, was to keep constantly on the move, as the alien ships and drones got really deadly. Even though Asteroids Boss allows multiple aliens to appear, I think it's easier than the original Asteroids Games, because I'm able to score a lot higher. Wink

Here are a couple of tips for Asteroids Boss, that could help a bit...

To avoid a deadly alien shot, you may need to change course, after the alien has fired.

When there is only 1 rock on the screen, it's likely that an alien ship will appear. So you can use this, depending on if you want to see the ships or not...

one thing id like to see is after you regenerate a few seconds leeway would be nice.if you die once it could cost you several guys because you may regenerate right in the middle of an asteroid
