Consoles from the past gives people understanding on what gaming really is today or not. Colecovision + Atari is where I started. What was yours, plus would you buy one now for your kids, family member or anyone in general? If not then why not.

I had one of the intellivision machines and an intellivision 2. WOW...talk about how far home gaming has come in the last 2 decades!

When I was a kid we got a Sears game system, I think that it had 4 versions of Pong. Video games don't get much more primitive than this. Some bit later we got the first Atari console, which was fun, Adventure was the coolest cartridge for me. After that I got into programming video games on my Apple ][+. My games were simple, because I used the BASIC language and the programs didn't run very fast. Anyway, I was out of the video game scene like forever, then years later, I grabbed a SNES before they stopped selling those, and me and my wife played a lot of Super Mario, Donkey Kong and Yoshi games. Also got a N64 when that came out, the 3D Mario was neat. My kid and I pull these two Nintendo consoles here and there and play some. The new consoles are incredible, but no plans to buy one right now.

Game consoles have indeed came a long way, but nothing is made the same now days. Atari, Nintendo, Super Nintendo were my first played. The awesome consoles of today are far superior, but intentionally flawed and designed to quit working properly after so much time/play. My Atari outlasted my PS 2! Rolling Eyes
