| They can be from any major auto racing league (NASCAR, F1, NHRA/Hot Rod, IRL, Motocross, MotoGP just to name a few). It was a close call between several different NASCAR drivers for me, but in the end I go with Kyle Busch for essentially being the "anti-Dale Jr." |

I (along with 4million compatriots ) mainly follow some guy called Scott Dixon in the IRL.
Not so keen on F1 these days (NZ's glory days were the 60s, with Hulme and McLaren) - but also enjoy A1, billed as the "World Cup of Moltorsport" - F1-type cars, but all identical engines and specifications, pitting country against country, as distinct from man against man.
(I think one of the Andretti's drove for Team USA in A1 at some stage.)
Over here Nascar is nothing .... tho I guess neither was Indy Car till Scott came along. |

For me Pablo Montoya, is a huge talent, I expected him to win more races in F1 but always something happened, he rushed out and made a mistake at the last minute or unexpected mechanical failure |

| Dale Ernhardt (or however you spelled it) was pretty good. He was before my time but I have ESPN classic and it shows a lot of old NASCAR races. It's a shame he died in a crash when he was in first place. I saw the movie "3" and it was pretty good (the movie's about his life in case you were living under a rock). |

My favorite NASCAR driver is Matt Kenseth but it used to be Mark Martin from 1997 to 2003 but he is still my 2nd favorite.
and TALLman, its spelled Earnhardt and he wasn't in first place when he crashed he was 3rd and many people think he wasnt trying to win the race but trying to block everyone else from passing up his son Dale Jr. and Michael Waltrip and let them 2 battle for the win. I watched that race on tv as it was happening live, sad day that I will never forget. |

My fav driver has to be Michael Shumacher. He's a legend. Won everything in his day, and was pretty much untouchable. He's pretty much the reason why the FIA addd all these harsh regulations to make F1 into a competitive sport again.
I also love The Stig from Top Gear;) |

I like motor racing, but I have always failed to understand how one has a "favourite driver"... because at the end of the day they're all just driving around as close to the best line as possible and any style in their driving is just part and parcel of how a car moves under certain forces.
I can understand having a favourite football player or say basketball player, because those sports clearly demonstrate fine tuned individuality of a human being.
Sorry to upset anyone... but...
Feel free to explain the attraction by all means. _________________ >
