|
|
Not long ago I think the "Sports" category was created, and has surely shown quite a good uptake.
I'd suggest "Computer Help" would be another area affecting probably at least half of us, and could turn into quite a selling point for the site in general.
Currently "Technology - (Gadgets, Computers, Science)" is the most appropriate place to ask, for example, how come my mouse doesn't work, or should I upgrade to Windows 7, but it doesn't sound inviting for such personal queries.
Look at the hundreds of sites around devoted to all sorts of computer/internet help - they thrive, but why should AB users have to go elsewhere when surely there's a host of very wide expertise right here!? |

Very good idea Eagle_Kiwi
btw i have a question :
My computer is 3 years old and i never had any problems with it, but lately the cooling system starts like every 5 minutes ( in the past this was once every 1 or 2 hours ).
Does anyone knows what the problem could be ? |

Torino, maybe it's too loaded and works too much.
\And would probably help your cooling system if you clean it, open the computers from the side and vacuum the dust off it.
And Computers Help sound good, but I think Technology is appropriate for it already. |

Thx for your suggestions KillerCarsS but i don't think that too loaded can be the problem,
i have 250 GB diskspace and i only use like 50 GB. About the dust, i clean the inside of my pc every 2 or 3 months and the cooling system is very clean.
I think the problem has to be something else. |

Thank you T.
I've never noticed such fluctuations myself, but then again I'm not usually very aware of fan hums etc. I'd wonder if (A) frequency hasn't actually changed, but just the noise - perhaps a fan grows louder as it ages, or (B) your software configuration changed and now happens to put greater load on the system.
I guess if it's still starting/stopping at any rate that's better than the day you find it's having to run nonstop!.
I'd suggest for peace of mind and/or tracking, get yourself a free little program that monitors/displays your running temperature, then you can SEE what's going on.
There are plenty of such tools - one I like and use is here: http://delicious.com/Eagle_Kiwi/dtemp . |

Could be the cpu's overheating and triggering the auto shut down reboot that most MOBOs have now a days. If you've blown out the cooling fan & heatsink on the CPU and it still does it, I would replace it with a new one. They're pretty inexpensive and may very well cure your problem.
could be a virus that causers it to reboot.
do a google search you should find what your looking for. _________________ Great Canada - US Host |

Thx everyone for the help
I don't think it's a virus, because i scan my pc every 2 days with AVG.
@ Lonny, should i replace both cooling fan & heatsink or only the heatsink ? |
