|
|
Nasa's experiment last month to find water on the Moon was a major success, US scientists have announced.
The space agency smashed a rocket and a probe into a large crater at the lunar south pole, hoping to kick up ice.
Scientists who have studied the data now say instruments trained on the impact plume saw copious quantities of water-ice and water vapour.
One researcher described this as the equivalent of "a dozen two-gallon buckets" of water.
"We didn't just find a little bit; we found a significant amount," said Anthony Colaprete, chief scientist for the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) mission.

Outstanding! They have long theorized that water may be under the "soil" at the lunar poles. I'm excited to hear that they have finally proved this! _________________ Since the Meek shall inherit the Earth then Canada is destined to rule the World! |

With water being there it is a real possibility that they may find some very basic form of life. Wouldn't that be amazing?! Other planets though?? hmmm...maybe. They'll have to crash a few more pieces of space junk to find out. LOL! _________________ Since the Meek shall inherit the Earth then Canada is destined to rule the World! |

The LCROSS men did a great job on their work. Infact, I saw this mission live in the morning the day it happened on NASA's website. Pretty cool. _________________ MW2 K/d Ratio=1.34

| Didn't they actually find some basic life-forms in space yet? |

They've only found a fossil from a meteor that came from Mars of something that would only have been alive billions of years ago.
On Mars itself, there's only proof that there is probably enough "stuff" to support life of "some" kind.
However they have not yet found life on other planets. _________________ Listen to Brooklyn Run, then Buy Their Album... before they fade away. |
