| I'm sure this has been suggested countless times, but when I go to a thread and see who has posted, it's almost futile because I cannot access that person's profile. The same is true with the users online list. What is the point if you can't click on their name and get to their profile? |

You can click usernames if they show up in latest forum threads. You can also click the button by a user's post to view their profile. Usernames are also clickable on home page and forum portal boss/medal/credit listings.
The online listings used to be clickable, but due to the huge amount of traffic this site gets it was appropriate to remove that code to reduce page loading times and server strain. _________________ >

| I think we should at least by able to click on their profiles from threads, though. And not just the most recent ones. |

You can! I just said you must click the button by their post. _________________ >

| Yes, but I think it should be more obvious than a tiny little button that nobody (including myself) would ever see. |

An interesting point, and one I don't recall having seen raised before.
But hey, I have to disagree. I noticed that small but VERY DISTINCTIVE "Profile" button the first day I came to this site, and have utilised it happily ever since. I think that - especially once you know it's there - it's PERFECT as is, distinctive and consistently placed so anytime you want a profile you know exactly what to click - but NOT big and unwieldy so as to detract from all the OTHER important things to see and click.
The more some things are enlarged for better access, the harder it is for users to see all the OTHER things, and you just can't have everything big and up front. I reckon AB has got that as close to perfect as it could be!
So ... what do others think ? |

| i think i agree with eagle. there is no need to have big buttons all over the screen. if you cant find a button cause it may be a little small, ask for help, and then everytime after that no matter the size, you know exactly where it is |

| But why can't the profile button be there as well as the name of the poster being a link? That would make things much easier. Most forums allow you to click on the person's name to take them to their profile. |

Ahh, now I get it (I think ).
Nice to have some fresh constructive criticism around, Ernie.
Well, I'd agree that clicking on the poster's name would seem a logical way to get to that person's profile (that applies most other places here, e.g. Tournament lists, BOTM, etc).
And if so, then the Profile button would be superfluous - so - IT could be scrapped, making less visual clutter for everyone!
(In fact even the "Message" button could vanish too - not to hard to send a message to someone FROM their profile page).
Now that all would seem not a bad plan to my way of thinking - the only DISadvantage being that those newbies who didn't KNOW to click on someone's name would never get to Profiles. At least the profile button SHOWS there's a thing called a "profile" somewhere.
On balance I reckon such a change would be good, but not hugely important, and probably Da Boss has plenty more 'necessary' tweaks on his work list. |

The profile button does not need to be scrapped, but most users who have had previous forum experience have the instinct to click on a user's name to access their profile. This is actually the only forum I've ever seen where you can't access a user's profile by clicking their name.
The profile button and the message button don't need to be scrapped. People will have a choice if they have both. |

| It also got me riddled when I first joined, but I found the Profile button kinda quickly. And once you know about it, it doesn't really matter )except if it really bothers you because you're used to something else). |

| I tried clicking on usernames from the forum to no avail. The "Profile" button finally caught my eye, I was lost at first too. It would make it easier for people if you could just click the username(Especially for new people), I agree. |
