I'm sure we all knew the sequel to Twilight would break at least one record this past weekend but even I was surprised to see New Moon break not one, not even two but no less than THREE records! 
It totally crushed all competition at the box office this weekend as expected with its opening weekend take of $140.7 million domestically according to the studio weekend estimates! Even from a first hand account I simply couldn't believe the HUGE crowds lined up to watch the movie at my multiplex just this weekend! It also made over $118 million in 25 foreign markets!
It looks like Summit knew fans wouldn't care if they replaced the director of the first film with a new one as long as they got to watch the sequel sooner rather than later!

It was certainly a surprise to New Moon fans but the blockbuster sequel almost got blindsided by The Blind Side!  The Blind Side actually managed to gross even MORE in its second week than in its first opening week!
