Another Hitchcock classic at the time was 'The Birds', it put me off going outside when there were crows about.

This is yet another topic that can have a endless list of movies one it.
For me when i was a kid the movies that scared me was exorcist then halloween in 78/79 scared the bejebus out of me, Dont quite remember when exorcist was released. But watching those when you were 7-8 years of age sure puts gray hairs on your heard at a early age. |

I don't find many movies scary just somewhat frightening. I liked Nightmare on Elm Street....

I think the best are those which are based on actual events, like the Exorcist, which was based on an exorcism which really did happen.
