I'm usually not the type to shed a tear over a celebrity death. However, George Carlin was my hero. He did things his way. He said what needed to be said and didn't pull his punches. For me that was what made his comedy so funny. I've always admired people like him. Yeah he had his addictions and I guess if I had his kind of fame, notoriety and money I'd probably have a vice or two as well. At least he didn't try to hide it like some of these guys today. Here's an article I found written by someone else. Here's the link to credit them for writing it. It's brilliant and sums Mr. Carlin up better than I can:

My favourite picture of him:

I was stunned this morning when I heard the news that George Carlin had died from heart failure overnight in LA. Lot’s of time the word “genius” is thrown out that it loses it meaning but Carlin was truly a GENIUS. Whether it was his “Hippy-Dippy Weather man” or his amazing take on the difference between football and baseball or his most famous “7 words you can’t say on the radio” that made him a champions for free speech and that guys like me can tell blowhard baseball team owner to **** off . I am sure they will be tons of tributes to Carlin and from watching his routines he would probably tell everyone to “cut the bullshit and get on with your ****** lives” and we will George we will but not without missing you.

He was brilliant as 'Rufus' in the Bill and Ted films. 'Party on dude' in heaven.
