| Just want to know how to get so good at these tournaments? Been playin' games for along time and still only get second or third. Figure it must just be a lot o luck. Unless maybe I'm not as skilled at these games as I thought. Has to be something to it. |

| It takes time to get good at these games. I've been trying 3-4 of the tournament games and still haven't made it anywhere near the top of the games yet. I'm sure that with practice you'll get better. |

Mojo2086, believe me, you chose the most difficult month to start competing in those tournaments since I'm here (exactly one year), are full of great players and specialists, so if you got second or third place, this is a "great" score and you have to feel very proud, you just need a little more time to find out what games are those in which no one can beat you, as many here have done, there's plenty to choose from
neeraffa, I think you're better qualified to give advice now |

Very good question, Mojo.
I've been here about 6 months, and have come close to winning a couple of tournaments, but each time had them snatched away by someone else. I guess that's just the nature of tough competition - one day I daresay I'll get one, but in meantime I find the BOTM competition somewhat easier to at least get SOME wins (and some $$$ ) in, as it's spread over 1000 games rather than the mere handful of games assigned to Tournaments at any time.
Hang in there, and the wins will come.
(And as for "luck" - not a bit of it! If there WAS luck involved, then those same people - e.g. Neeraffa, Twi$ter, etc - wouldn't keep winning, month after month. It's SKILL, and you and I need to keep working to improve ours. ) |
