This is a story from my local AM radio station's website:

Extreme Windchills freeze Saskatchewan
Reported By Joe Hoover
Posted December 12, 2009 - 1:32pm
It's so cold, your shadow could freeze to the sidewalk!
That's a slight exaggeration, but it is really cold in Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada has issued Extreme Windchill Warnings for almost the entire province. By definition, extreme windchills come into effect when temperatures fall into the -40° to -50° range.
Saturday morning, the mercury was barely visible at times, sitting all the way down at -49° at one point.
Meteorologist Dan Kulak says this is dangerous weather.
"At -40° odd temperatures with the windchill, the average person will run into freezing problems within a few minutes."
Kulak says the windchills should taper off Sunday afternoon.
In Canada, 85% of people who died from weather-related incidents die from exposure.

now thats cold. when I used to live in Lancaster/Palmdale area. "35 or so miles north of Los Angeles" it got down to 10° F or - 12 °C one winter. Thats was the coldest I have ever felt.
Here in riverside the weather gets in the 30's ° F night 60's ° F days which doesnt bother me at all at time in in shorts.
I wish the best for all that lives in the colder climate parts of the world. Stay warm... _________________ Great Canada - US Host |

We have about 6 inches of snow right now. Winter lasts until the end of April and we still get the odd snowstorm in early May. I have our thermostat at 25 degrees Celsius just to keep it at 20 degrees. It's really cold and skin can freeze in seconds right now. It's all about what makes us Canadian. Saskatchwan is the only province that gets consistently cold weather and has temperatures that rival those in Siberia. _________________ -2nd Person to Join

I didn't grow up out here. I moved here 11 years ago from a very dry and very warm climate. I lived in British Columbia all my life and moved from Canada's only true Desert area. It's in the South Okanagan. Beautiful country out there....orchards and massive wineries, mountains overlooking clear blue pristine lakes with sandy beaches.
I miss it a lot. _________________ -2nd Person to Join
