Yeah sure! Whhaaaaaatt?!
Have you ever tried to understand all this continuous dietary advice?
All this "help" you hear day in day out, on the radio, in the news, in the newspaper, on the web... instead it becomes immensely complex and contradictory.
On the one hand we all know to reduce our sugars and fats, this that or the other...
... but on the other hand we are told things like some fats are healthy, some saturates are healthy, some acids are healthy, sugar can be healthy, salt is somewhat important... etc... etc...
We hear dietary advice to the contrary just as often as we hear dietary advice to the other.
In turn my own personal dietary planning has always been and probably always will be a basic rule as follows...
RESTRICT
Sugars, salts and fats.
UNRESTRICT
Fruits, vegetables and minerals.
I honestly cannot digest all these different pieces of contradictory information. Life is hard enough calculating expenses, taxes, bills, agendas, appointments, work and schedules... etc... etc...
The last thing I am going to remember on a daily basis is "what not to eat, unless to eat, but not to eat, but can eat as long as to not eat, but eat if not eaten, unless not to eat very often"... um.
So here is my dietary rule of thumb. I generally eat what I like, taking note of the above, and just hope I live a relatively long time.
Any thoughts on this and how do you guys follow and keep to dietary guidelines? _________________

For me, eating smaller portions more frequently seems to work.
For example, I have a coffee, an orange, and a pear at about 6:00am, then a small bread roll with some type of filling at about 10:00am.
Lunch around 1:00pm would consist of perhaps some stir-fried veggies.
Another small bread roll or a tomato at 4:00pm to eat with my son when he comes home from school, then dinner of rice and fish/chicken at around 7:00pm.
A nice cup of tea before bedtime rounds the day off, to make sure I don't get hungry until the next morning!
It seems to keep me fairly healthy, when combined with some daily exercise
My favourite meal? Home-cooked beefburger, two fried eggs, and French-fries with loads of ketchup. Well, you gotta have some weaknesses, right? |

how do i follow stick to dietary guidelines? simple.
I do my best to eat a lot of veggies, fruits, fish.
Nuts are quite healthy for you too.
Almonds help with RA also.
I rarely touch soda. Once every 6 months or so.
Diet sodas may be tied to stroke risk thats going back to
February 09, 2011..
Before that I wasn't touching it much. just a **** when I ordered something from a fast food joint.
as for fats and sugars.
“Bad Fats” are considered to be trans and saturated fats. no no for the body.
Raises ‘bad’ cholesterol (LDL)
may lower ‘good’ cholesterol (HDL)
increase the risk factors for coronary heart disease and stroke.
“Good Fats” are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats
are shown to improve cholesterol levels....
may help reduce risk factors of heart disease and stroke,
may help reduce risk of diabetes,
could promote healthy nerve activity,
shown to improve vitamin absorption which can improve and maintain a healthy immune system,
promote cell development.
Don't get me started on the gluten hype.
Thats just another way to get most end users to pay more for food that is bad to begin with.
Moderation and staying active is key for everyone who can do it.
Hell just looks back to our childhood pre 1980's.
You rarely seen kids overweight back then and now you can see 2-3 in a group from time to time. _________________ Don't Google it, Just Bing IT!

Another thing one can do cut table salt "iodized salt". for sea salt or kosher. Allot of our foods come with salt in them so adding more can be bad in some cases. I have seen allot of people add gobs of salt on people's plates which contributes to high blood pressure. Salt Causes water retention leaving one's body to look and feel bloated.
People I know make up excuses on not quitting smoking. One of the main ones is "well my friend quit smoking and he or she got cancer" well thats not true it depends on a lot of factors like how long has the person had it, it may have progressed by the smoking or other things in life. Or it's passed down from family member.
Another is the weight gain, again it's all in moderation. People will say that when they tried to quit smoking foods taste better making them eat more.
I myself have a habit of eating late nights 11pm. 1 - 2 sometimes 3 top ramens from time to time when I'm really hungry. I know it's bad for you as some of those little packets can contain 900mg of sodium [salt] each. Thats my salt intake for the month and worst of my habits.
I do burn off as much as I can when I'm on the elliptical at the gym, but even then to much of that ramen is bad for the heart. _________________ Don't Google it, Just Bing IT!

The way I figure it God doesn't make mistakes with priorities. The meat eating teeth are in front. The veggie teeth are in back. In case the meat eating teeth get knocked out; vegetables are the last resort. |

A great observation from Holovision, and wonderful riposte by Lonny. It's a pity I can give +1 rep to only one of you for that piece of entertainment. Thanks guys! |
