Ouija appeared to provide enough scares to meet its low expectations and it got to the top of the domestic box office with an estimated $20 million.

Its main demographic were the young (75% under 25) and the female (61%). In other words, the audience looked a bit like its protagonists.

John Wick, on the other hand, proved that Keanu Reeves can still draw just enough fans to meet expectations in an action movie with a modest $14.1 million according to estimates.

As can be expected, its audience was the direct opposite of Ouija in that it skewed heavily towards older (77% over 25) and the male (60%). Yes, this means that the audience looked a bit like Keanu Reeves...

Fury rounded out the top 3 grossing movies as it was last week's top grossing film. It probably took a hit from John Wick as they're both action films.

You can find the box office estimates at:

What did you think of either of the 2 new movies opening this weekend? What did you think of any of the box office performances this weekend?

did not know/heard of Ouija so all in all don't care.

then again Honey Boo Boo had a viewing of 1.7 million.
shows where the mind set of the American People are.

Exactly right! I'm an old codger, and I have no desire to watch Ouija, but I quite like the idea of seeing John Wick.

If it's any consolation to you, Honey Boo Boo's US viewer numbers had been falling steadily from its peak of 3.21 million viewers at the 2nd season finale to its low of 1.81 million viewers at its final episode back in August.

TLC may have filmed an entire season of the show but the irony is that it got cancelled so that season will never be aired! How do you like that?

I"m heart broken also the show ran it's course.
It was based on a child and family, the child had grow and the cuteness is gone.

The millions of mindless idiots will now have to figure out something else to watch. Guess that Duck Dynasty and Keeping Up With The Kardashians will see a boost in ratings now.

It wasn't so much that it ran its course but I read that there was a scandal involving one of its stars outside of the show.

Duck Dynasty has better ratings than Keeping Up with the Kardashians so sadly there will be at least another season coming next month that will either prove or disprove your prediction.

The good news is that there still hasn't been any news regarding season 10 of Keeping Up with the Kardashians so we can always hope season 9 was the last one!

If it's any consolation, both The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones have more viewers than both Duck Dynasty and Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Even if you added the number of viewers for BOTH Duck Dynasty AND Keeping Up with the Kardashians TOGETHER, they would still be surpassed by Game of Thrones' number of viewers!

Like it or not, Americans still prefer the violence and gore of either The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones to the so-called reality of Duck Dynasty or Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
