Take it that I am 41 and I miss the original Godzilla. Lots of Weekend mornings for me.

I sure hope I this one will be better than the one from 15 years ago with Matthew Broderick. Pee You. That one stunk.
Godzilla was more like a T-Rex in that one.

"Friday Report: 'Godzilla' Roars, Scores Biggest Opening Day of 2014
Godzilla ruled the box office on Friday with a stunning $38.5 million. Meanwhile, Neighbors and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 fell hard, while Million Dollar Arm failed to find the strike zone."

Looks like I may catch this one at the theaters tomorrow or mid week.

Certainly NOT! As the post title states, with an estimated gross of over $93 million in the domestic market alone, MANY fans of the King of Monsters went to watch the 28th (29th?) Godzilla film!

You miss the original Godzilla? Were you even alive back in 1954 or even 1956 when the original film was first shown in the US?

I always enjoyed the original Godzilla as well and always wondered if there would ever be a worthy remake of it like so many other classics that have had success. The last attempt was a flop. This one has some positive reviews but, I don't know if I will be running to the movie theater to see it though. Icon_think

Well no I wasn't alive in the 50's was born in 72" Gojira ran reruns in the 70's so I remember the original fondly.
I love all those crazy and funny Japanese ones they made in the 1960's as well...

I for one not a fan of "rebooted" movies will give this a go since I seen the last one at theaters and well I was disappointed with it...

The director made a good low budget movie a while back called Monsters. Everything was done He did all of the effect shots in his bedroom with off the shelf software...
So I wonder what he could do with a nice budget...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njeofv4dr9Q#t=34
trailer for monsters....

Can anybody confirm if RODAN is in it? Would be great to see.

I agree. The Broderick one is probably best viewed after a Christmas dinner, when everyone is full of wine and half asleep. Icon_loln

Skipped the gym this morning and went to see it.
I can say it's close to a old school Godzilla movie.
The director did a good job giving this movie it's own look and feel too.

Nothing like that crap with Matthew Broderick..

Read a bit over at Reddit they are already planning #2. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I'm talking about 'the years '90-'95 .. at that time we went with our Dutch Royal Air Force ( 315 squadron ) to Canada to Goose Bay, 5th Wing , and I saw in the basement of our building already a earlier version of the movie Godzilla... I think one year later this movie came to our country so people could finally watch this movie into the theatre's Rolling Eyes

that was the one with Matthew Broderick 96-98. not good to my standards.
Godzilla didn't look like Godzilla, Godzilla looked more like a t-rex crossbred mixed with an amped up version of jurassic park.
the first jurassic park was a heck of allot better then that version of Godzilla...

I only saw it on dvd. It wasn't as good as the original Japanese movies. That and I almost fell asleep near the beginning of it.
