It was probably a post just to get credits. Anytime someone posts without giving out information that is needed to diagnose a problem or posts in random forums they are almost always just junk posts. He's just a credit hunter. That's it. Nothing more. |

I googled your problem and found literally hundreds of sites that can help with your problem. No one here is a qualified TV repair person that I'm aware of so Google will probably be your best bet. From what I've gathered it could be a very simple problem that could have netted you a nice TV. |

If your refering to the red dots that appear on the screen then its the its common in older projectors. if thats the case with the red dots on the screen you may need a new tube in it.
My step dad had one after 12 years it did the same thing, then one day it never came back on.
After loading the huge TV in his truck to have it checked out at the repair shop the tube went due to tube fungus build up. The offered 175+ parts and labor at around 240.00 we said screw that.
That was about 1 1/2 ago I gave them my philip plasma 42in. Since I was moving to riverside.
That had the same red dot issue something about the XY board or y board I forgot the name had blew out.
It seems plasmas are terrible if you play consoles on them "xbox". in my case.
I didnt know that.
That was a 299.00 fix at that time. We said screw that again.
I went halfs with my step dad and they got a 42 inch vizio at wall mart that was on sale.
as for me I have a rca 26 inch now in the room. Im happy with it.
Magnavoxs use to be the best to buy next to RCA for its time.
From what I posted above you can make you own call.
If your going to have someone look at it. Expect the worst and ask 2-3 repair shops then compeat for price/business.
If not you can always down grade to a 32 in. Theirs no shame in that. _________________ Don't Google it, Just Bing IT!

From my short bit of reading, it's not my TV so I didn't need to read all the articles, the problem is the whole screen goes red. Now there's an easy fix to it IF it's just a setting of some kind that got buggered around with. Failing that, and it's quite unlikely however not unheard of, that 2 of the bulbs are dead. Finally, it could be a buggered up board or switching unit in the TV itself that's shot.
Like I said I didn't read the all the articles on the various sites I checked, but it could be a small problem easily fixed or something more serious. |

ICBM brought up the switching unit which I forgot to mention. the switching unit acts like a kill switch when theirs a power outage.
my folks had a 37" CRT "that weight at least 400 lbs in their room what a monster that was to move around". that switch which is connected thru the power button would just die / not function and go back on not even the remote after x amount of power outages. So thats another issue with those brands. _________________ Don't Google it, Just Bing IT!
