I don't have a single favorite book. My favorites:

Stephen King
The Dark Tower Series
Under the Dome
Gerald's Game
Bag of Bones
Needful Things
Cell
All of his short story collections

James Rollins
All of his Sigma series
Excavation
Subteranean

Bentley Little
The Store
The Return
The Resort

All of these authors offer a different variety of work. King's work is legendary as a Master of the Macabre. I've always liked his writing. Even as a kid I enjoyed his way of story telling. James Rollins ties his books together with real life locations, theories and actual accounts. Bentley Little, I've found, has a way of touching the deep part of "What If..." in his books.

That's one book I never really enjoyed of his. I don't know why. I read it about 20 years ago. Maybe I should give it another go. I have a book with 4 short stories he wrote as Richard Bachman. Definitely one of my favorites. It's got The Running Man in it. It's also got The Long Walk. That is truly a story I enjoy. It really makes one think "Can I do that? COULD I do that"?

I've read bits and pieces of The Dark Tower series and I must admit I was greatly impressed with the series.

Under the Dome had an interesting premise but the town's residents didn't seem as interesting as the dome itself though.

Cell was actually quite funny! I enjoyed reading Cell more than I expected! Smile

The first 3 books of the series were simply incredible! The imagery that he created was astounding! However, the fourth book was good as well just not as well thought out I felt. The final 3 came too fast. The release of the books was typically every 4 years. I had picked up The Gunslinger sometime around '94 I think. It captivated me in a way no other book ever had. I would have patiently waited for him another 12 years to end the series, but he didn't know if he'd live to see the end. That and fans were screaming for the other books. Too bad he fell to peer pressure. The stories he would have written would have been way better than what he gave us. The story started to break up a bit in the fifth book and by the middle of the seventh I thought it had fallen apart. However, the ending of the book and upon reading the first 3 again I understood exactly what King wrote before the final chapter of the seventh book. There were a great many people who were very disappointed with the final chapter and Roland's finishing his quest. I felt very good about the ending. It was the only way that it could end. There were no other viable endings for that series.

Ive got several book's by Stephen King written under the name Richard Bachman, The regulator's is a good one, which i have.
I have the Running man, it's a neat little read at just over 200 page's, I have the edition that was bought out after the movie was made.
It was a great movie with Arnold in it, i enjoyed the book and the movie.
Man Stephen King must be a rich man by now, it's great to see him bring out new book's even now.

You liked The Regulators? I know it's connected to Desperation, but I can't remember if it's a prequel of sorts or a sequel. I loaned it a friend of mine who had read Desperation and he thought it was a terrible read just like I did. I usually don't throw books away, but I figured the world be better off with one less copy of it floating around.

It's ok, Desperation is much better tho.
You didnt like The Talisman?!
I've thrown book's out before, but never a Stephen King book.

A really good read that i really enjoyed was Bret Hart Hitman,
One of the most recent book's ive read.
Of coarse it wont be for everyone, but i highly recommend it.
A fantastic insightful read from his childhood right threw to his career ending match and everything inbetween.
Fantastic.

That's a book that I would actually read since I am a big pro wrestling fan and have always liked Bret Hart. I think there's a Shawn Michaels book too if I remember right.

I've listed most of my favourite books as the primer topics for this new forum.

But I also like to read scriptures from different religions. I want to get the Shri Guru Granth Sahib (Sikh scripture), but it comes in 4 volumes stretching the pocket at £50.
