American Olympic swimmers Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz were pulled off their flight from Rio de Janeiro to the United States overnight and have been ordered to stay in Brazil for questioning, as muddled accounts of a reported robbery involving the athletes spirals into a diplomatic matter.

The two men and fellow US swimmers Ryan Lochte and James Feigen reported being robbed at gunpoint early Sunday in a taxi bound for the Olympic Village by individuals posing as armed police officers, the US Olympic Committee said.

But a series of conflicting accounts by the athletes and authorities since then has caused confusion and turned the event into a diplomatic issue involving consular officials, lawyers, orders to confiscate passports and, now, the removal of athletes from a flight.

Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad held onto the top spot for a second straight weekend with $43.53 million, though plunging a steep 67.4 percent after bad reviews. Sony’s R-rated animated comedy Sausage Party opened in second place with $34.26 million. Disney’s Pete’s Dragon proved a rare miss for the studio during the record-breaking year with a third place $21.51 million opening. And Paramount’s Florence Foster Jenkins, though hardly projected to be a box office smash, started with an underwhelming $6.60 million to claim eighth place.

Niantic, the company behind Pokemon Go, appears to be bringing down the hammer on cheaters.

Specifically, it's cracking down on users who have created bots to trick the game, as well as those who use the bots, by serving them a "lifetime ban" and pursuing legal action, according to The Guardian.

Since the game has erupted in popularity, bots that help trick the location-tracking system have begun to crop up. Though this is considered cheating under the Pokemon Go terms of service, the bots and services, as well as those who have used them, have yet to be penalized.

Now it looks like Pokemon Go addicts who have taken advantage of the loopholes might have to pay the ultimate price.

Fidel Castro turned 90 on Saturday, and few people may be as shocked by the former Cuban leader's longevity as Castro himself.
He has lived much of his long life in the spotlight -- and much of it in the crosshairs -- surviving a half century of assassination plots and attempts against him.

In a column titled "The Birthday" that was published in Cuban-state media Saturday, Castro said his younger brother Raul would have replaced him had "the adversary been successful in their plans of elimination. I almost laughed at the Machiavellian plans of the US Presidents."
Now in his ninth decade and increasingly infirm, Castro's mortality is very much on his mind.
"Soon I will be 90," Castro said during a rare public appearance in Havana in April, at a meeting of the island's ruling Communist Party. "Never would such an idea have occurred to me. It was not the fruit of any effort, it was the whim of fate. Soon I will be like all the rest."

He’s officially a Pokemon Master.

He wanted to “be the very best,” and became the very first to ‘catch ’em all.”

New Yorker Nick Johnson, a 28-year-old author and head of platform at the mobile tech consulting startup Applico, has literally traveled the globe playing Pokémon Go since the augmented reality mobile game debuted in July and took the world by storm.

He’s Pokéballed extremely rare Pokémon on at least four different continents, some that are only regionally available, until recently catching all 147 of the digital cartoon characters that have officially been released by Niantic, the game’s maker, Fast Company reports.

His last Poké-capture was a Kangaskhan (image below), exclusively available in Australia and New Zealand, which he snagged “right in front of a Tommy Bahama” while visiting Sydney this week, according to Fast Company.

This New York 'Pokémon Go' Enthusiast Is the First Confirmed Player to 'Catch 'Em All'

A US Reddit user has just become the first reported player to catch 'em all after completing the North American Pokedéx.

User ftb_hodor has reached expert level on the game after catching every Pokémon currently available in the United States.

He caught a total of 142 Pokémon to complete the Pokedéx, admitting he had to do a lot of walking to finish the game.

The New York City-based Level 31 trainer revealed he walked 153.2km (95.1 miles) while hunting Pokémon, catching a total of 4,269 Pokémon and hatching 303 eggs along the way.

There are a few caveats to his impressive achievement, however, with the player still missing some Pokémon that are not currently available in America.

The nine elusive Pokémon include Ditto, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo and Mew, with no information currently on if they are even available in the game.

He also hasn’t caught three Pokémon which are only available in their regions, they include Farfetch’d (only available in Asia), Kangaskhan (Australia and New Zeland) and Mr. Mime (exclusive to Europe).

A Pokémon Go master has become the first player to catch 'em all

Pokémon Go has quickly become one of the most viral mobile applications of all time. The game is now the biggest ever in the U.S.; it has now topped Twitter’s daily users, and it sees people spending more time in its app than in Facebook, according to reports from various tracking firms.

An earlier report from SimilarWeb had pegged Pokémon Go as having surpassed dating app Tinder, in terms of installs, while it was closing in on Twitter’s daily active users. By Thursday, July 7th, the app had been installed on more Android smartphones than the dating app, the firm had said.

Today, SimilarWeb tells us that Pokémon Go did manage to surpass Twitter in terms of daily active users on Monday, and now sees 5.92 percent of the U.S. Android population engaging with the app on a daily basis.
