Yeah, I'm sure every country has stories like that, but I have to admit that I do see/hear rather a lot of that in the Philippines. Crying or Very sad

Lol, I haven't been in the Philippines that long, just a few years; but I have learned that the Filipinos are not only very patriotic about their country, they are also very proud of their successful compatriots (...and they like to talk about them): Arnel Pineda, Manny Pacquiao (boxer), Lea Salonga (singer), etc.

Exactly. I absolutely agree. For example, I have a Black Sabbath album - Tyr - where the lead vocals are sung by Tony Martin. I love that album: turn the volume up to 11 and lay back! Superb vocalist. BUT... he ain't no Ozzy Osbourne. Same with Uriah Heep: Bernie Shaw is a great frontman for those perennial rockers, but I am sure Bernie would admit that David Byron, the original singer, added a touch of magic to the sound. Lol, I'm showing my age again... Icon_hillarious

Ok that's good as some people tend to take my comment the wrong way and you did not Smile

Yes I agree every country has these types of stories.

Well I just assumed since you live in the Philippines you were very familiar with him. I also have friends who are Filipino and know how proud of their family heritage, country and fellow compatriots and always speak proudly about them all the time.

I agree there's always a special magic that separates the 2. The original voice just gives it that extra punch that drives it home. Where as the Successor or the now frontman keeps it alive and can be a well worthy replacement to the band going forward.

Speaking of Ozzy I saw him and Lita Ford in concert back in 1989 I always liked their song...Close My Eyes Forever.

And if your showing your age then so am I Razz Laughing

@rogbow: Cool! That must have been one exciting concert!

* * *

Anyway, there was I, yesterday, drinking a mug of black coffee and studying the computer screen. Icon_coffeetime

As I drained the mug, a coffee bean popped into my mouth. I thought to myself, "Didn't the coffee shop grind the coffee properly?"

Then I thought "How did a coffee bean get through the filter?"

So, after rolling the bean around in my mouth for a while, I spat it out into my hand. I looked at it, and thought "HEY, THIS COFFEE BEAN HAS LEGS!"

Somehow, a beetle had decided to take a swim in my coffee and had drowned. I am so glad I did not crunch down on this 'bean', as I sometimes do with whole coffee beans!

Anyway, a quick gargle with water, and no harm done. I think I will start putting a miniature "No Swimming" sign on my mug... Shocked

I always had a preference for Ronnie Dio as vocalist. Short lived tenure, but Dehumanizer was a masterpiece in my book.
Ozzy's image always suited his solo career in the 80's and I think that era of his music was some of his best work but with the untimely death of Randy Rhoads, Ozzy kind of lost the way a bit. (I would say lost the plot, but I think he lost that years ago)
And to think, Tony Iommi is now a Professor of music at Coventry university and yes he does go in and teach about music properly, song writing and chord structure and the like. A far cry from what you'd imagine him to be like.
Hands up who would've loved a music teacher like him when you were at school.

Well, it's about 9.30pm here, and the temp is still in the mid-80's. I just polished off two iced beers, and still listening to the neighbours across the road singing their hearts out at their outdoor karaoke party! It's Sunday night, but tomorrow is a public holiday, so everyone is taking advantage of the extra day off!

But you know what? Sometimes I miss the icy fingers of winter in my lungs, or the sound of snow crunching underfoot. Better start saving up for a Christmas holiday in the UK... Christmas 2017, maybe...! Wink

I wish it was in the 70's but, no luck only made 56F today and is only going to get in the mid 60's all week Icon_cry1

@ msidoh I'd be happy to trade places this time of year with you for about 4 months Wink

I used to like winter but, don't care for it like when I was younger. My ideal place would be somewhere where it stays in the mid 70's all year round Icon_pray
