My dad asked me if I wanted to go down and check out the new buicks this morning.
As were walking around I went a different direction as I was drawn to two particular models that were side by side.
I stood their waiting until a sales person walked by me and started to ask some questions. He looked at me as if I didn't belong their. Mind you I was in shorts tank top and sneakers, others were dressed about the same as me. He walked on without saying a word.
So being the person I am I went looking desk to desk for the main head/supervisor on the floor and told him politely what had happened.
Well long story short I was given a good deal anytime I want at that dealership for my trade in when ever that time came.
Any similar stories like this one? If so let's hear it. |

I hear what your saying..I have been looking for a car now for a few weeks and get all sorts of looks when I'm at the dealerships..I'm a comfortable kind of kid, unless I'm going to work or out somewhere nice I dress in running pants and a hoodie...It is very easy to see people treat me differently than a guy wlking around in a suit..There was one dealer that was around my age and he came right up to me and was cool...It was a satisfying feeling sitting at his desk and when he asked if I was going to put a down payment on the car and I took 8 grand out of my pocket and laid it on the desk..the look on some of the other dealers faces was priceless...the kid that was cool with me got a hell of a commission |

Thats so true Raw but in todays economic times in the US some still worry on commission for their salaries so they still base one book on its cover.
Its wrong but that the way it always been here.
I say fire these types of smucks put me in their I probably pull more sales at a new car dealership in one day them most in a months time. |

I never really had any problems at a car dealership. I usually look in the lots when they are closed and then go back to the ones I like when they are open. I can never get the vultures, i mean salesmen, to leave me alone. I don't dress up but maybe it is because I must have sucker written across my forehead. However, I have had that problem in an electronics store. ICBM and I were looking at buying a flat screen tv. There were two salesmen. One looked at us, walked by and served an older gentlemen. The other one didn't even acknowledged us and found a middle aged couple to talk to. The sad part was there was a younger girl looking to buy a specific tv and they even ignored her. It is just sad period. We went elsewhere and found better service. |

That sucks MP. I also had a bad experience at certain department store once.
Now wall mart wall is the store in this story. I went their a few months back for a simple mouse. I asked for assistance and I was told someone will be with you in a moment. Because the mouse I wanted was behind glass and lock. Well that moment took over 20 minutes. I told what looked like a kid fresh out of high school to stick it up... you know were.
my words were "I have to stand and wait on a lousy mouse for almost a 1/2 hour when I could of gotten what I needed and been gone. Cause your a chain of stores you treat your customers like this. I pretty sure he didnt care.
Long story short I ended up buying what I needed at home and paid less on a 2 mouse set {pair} then one at the wall mart, thats including sales and ship.
I guess customer service has lost its sense and values for us simple folks. whether its over the borders or across the sea. Such a shame. |

Many years ago a buddy and I went to Petcetera. While browsing I found a gorgeous Betta Splendins. I went in search of an employee and couldn't find one. I went to the cashier who paged someone for me. Still no one showed up. Finally, I got fed up and found the cart they keep all their supplies on. I grabbed a bag, put some water in it, netted the fish and went to the till. I told her no one helped us out and that I bagged the fish myself. She apologized and told me to just keep the fish at no charge.
Kind of off topic I guess, but off the top of my head nothing comes to mind. _________________ -2nd Person to Join

its different at a golf course, there are rules...but at dealerships and stores it does happen....like lonny said, the ones that do judge are shmucks and its their own fault if they lose a commission for judging on looks alone...i have an uncle that is loaded, his net worth is somewhere around like 30 million...he walks around in jeans and sweatpants with holes, and 10 year old beat up flannle shirts...no one would ever know he had money and i have seen him treated like a bum in certain stores...little did the salesperson know he could have probably bought the store |

Good for him! I agree 100% with him. Once you let money get in the way of who you are you stop being the person you want to be. _________________ -2nd Person to Join
