I currently use Norton Internet Security.

My anti-virus software only has 59 days of subscription left so I was wondering which anti-virus programs you recommend or use? Confused

I haven't used an AV of any kind in several years. Just no use for them. AVG free is good if you can still find a free download for it. AVAST was good too, but I don't now if it's still free or not.

I use McAfee Virus Protection. Been using it on this computer for a year now, and have had no issues with a virus. Once there is a virus on you're computer, it automatically removes it Smile

Only downside is that it's not free, and is a bit expensive. But it's definitally worth it imo.

I recommend AVG too, but i donīt use it so much, becuase any antivirus installed donīt work at 100% and i prefeer scan manually my pc each 3 or 4 month with some portable antivirus, so you donīt install, donīt use space in hard drive, donīt spend time while is scanning, and and your pc isnīt more slow.

this depends that you want, for me I prefer to use an portable antivirus, as Dr. WEB, which has taken out me major trouble when any antivirus donīt detect difficult virus, and this antivirus helps me a lot

Dr. WEB is portable and you can download the last version when do you want.

Like Starman I use McAfee Exclamation

I have a so called 3-users account. So it protects my pc, the pc from my wife and the pc from her son.
Also I use McAfee Site Advisor Plus. Its gives an online advise when you visit a site with a green or a red colour.
When it gives a red colour it means that something could be dangerous to visit such a site and you can click on a site-report that shows why it could be dangerous to visit this site Exclamation

I agree with Starman that its a little bit expensive ( I pay each year € 90 )
but in the last 3 months Mcafee removed 17 possible virusses or spyware and kept it in quarantine, so I think its worth it

the way to get a discoount is to buy it for 2 or 3 years at once Laughing

Yeah. I have it on two computers, and paid $150 for 3 years. I think it was cheap because I bought it when I purchased my laptop for Dell.

I use AVG free. Has worked great for me for years. A lot of people use Avast also. You can get it for free too.

My brother uses AVG Free version in combination with AVAST it seem to look that it properly works together without problems...

Does anyone else here have good experiences with this combination of using those two together Question

I recently ran a virus scan with my version of Norton Internet Security and it took over TEN hours! I wasn't even using my computer for all that time! Shocked

I was shocked because it took my previous anti-virus software only 2-3 hours to complete a full scan on the same hard drive!

How long would it take other anti-virus software to complete a full scan of a 500 GB hard drive? Confused

I had Norton several year's back, A full scan would take approx one hour.
On the two computer's I have now I have AVG Free and Full scan take's 30 minute's, But in saying that, One is brand new, The other is about a year old but I keep as much off them as possible.

Where as a few year's back the computer I had was old, Full with music, movie's, picture's, game's ect and I would do a full scan once a week it would approx 5-6 hour's.

So I advise having little as possible file's on your computer and a big difference can be speed and condition of the computer.
If you have or have to have alot on your computer getting an external harddrive or saving file's to disk or usb drive's can keep them off your computer but are easily enough put back on.

10 hour's seem's incredible long, Like you said it took your old program much less, I found Norton to be very good and fast.
I think if i could have any anti-virus it would be Norton, I had it for 2 year's but found it too expensive to renew every year.

I've had AVG Free for awhile now and have had no issue's.
I aim to do a full scan once a week, And do a quick scan every few day's.

Was it your FIRST Norton scan, Sometime's the first scan can take alot longer.
