I agree.
This is one of those classic films where EVERYTHING works: the writing, the directing, the acting, etc. The extras on the DVD are extensive and fascinating (you can tell both William Friedkin and William Peter Blatty cared about every second of this film).
Most great horror films will have you turning on lights and peeking around corners, but THE EXORCIST will make you afraid to close your eyes. |

I don't know of many that really scare me now. I do remember the good ole "Psycho", as many have said, but watching it now it doesn't scare me much. I can tell you I don't like the messed up movies like "The Hills Have Eyes" and things like that; knowing people could really be like that scare me. I like to watch a good suspense movie that makes me jump. I will say that one that made me think twice was the first "Final Destination" I walked out of the movie not wanting to hear a John Denver song, lol. But any of Stephen King movie is good; "Cujo", "Christine", and I loved "Misery". |

I don't know the saw series was great but I wouldn't say it was scary, but more along side of suspenseful which I guess could be considered scary, but eh whatever.
Dawn of the Dead was pretty scary, but I would have to say one of the scariest movies I have ever seen was the thing. It was an older film, but man it gets you good lol. |
