Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beats Guardians of the Galaxy for top spot at the box office this past weekend!

It surpassed its expectations as it was widely expected that Guardians of the Galaxy would be in a close race with it for the top grossing film this past weekend.

That simply wasn't the case as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle earned an estimated $65 million leaving Guardians of the Galaxy with a respectable $41.5 million in its second weekend.

I think TMNT's box-office success might be due in part to its previous franchise success. I just watched the trailer on Youtube, and read some unremarkable reviews about how dull it is. I'll give this one a miss at the cinema, but might watch it with my son if it airs sometime.

One thing in its favour: Whoopi Goldberg. I like her. (Jumpin' Jack Flash is possibly one of her funniest). Wink

I was reading online that this movie was awful so now I don't know if I should go see it. Eh who knows critics are wrong a lot of the time.
