BFC on the site. Biggest ego too other than K2 and I'm sure everyone who voted in that "poll" want to know why he chickened out and left the decision to AB instead of honoring his "poll".

Politics weren't being discussed. It was a historical discussion and how those incidents could impact the world today. However, since "politics" isn't supposed to be discussed because of it being taboo what can be talked about? Surely not kids shows. Their are so many poor shows out there for kids and even ones which have been made out to depict homosexuality, Sesame's Street Bert and Ernie, even though they aren't gay. No kids show discussions. Can't discuss current issues since most, check that, ALL have a political bent to them so that can't be discussed. Space travel? I doubt that. More politics based on cost, budgets, government involvement, etc. Religion? Not a chance since it's quite a volatile topic. Games? Probably not. The government is involved in the ratings system and I do believe there is current discussion at some government level as to whether games cause violent behavior. TV? Possibly not given that I saw Lonny bash people for watching reality TV and that could cause a divide in the harmonious state of the forum. Music? Maybe. Doesn't seem to be a problem so far. So we're left with the thread games and quizzes forum. I partook in it briefly, got harassed for it and I will not make use of it again.

Since most every topic is considered taboo I would ask for a list of what can be discussed without borders. A friend of mine had suggested this forum to me as being a good place to debate topics of current interest. However, I don't see that it is. Good natured back and forth is not encouraged, but stifled instead. Current political topics are taboo and considering what has happened in Japan I'm shocked that can't be discussed. Perhaps I'll just wander back to whence I came for a while and check back much later to see if things have changed here. I'm optimistic they will. After reading many threads from past months/years I'm optimistic it will. At what point it changed to this current format I'm wasn't able to decipher, but it's moot.

Good day.

I will not engage you. You clearly, from other threads and replies of yours I've read, have an inability to give direct answers. Apparently your comprehension is also lacking considering I gave the explanation in the very next sentence after the part you quoted. Apparently ignorance is just your way of dealing with people. I will refrain from replying to you in the future. Any and all replies of yours will be judged as meaningless drivel until the day comes you can answer with honesty, integrity and without using a question. Regardless of intellect I suggest you start practicing the phrase,"Would you like fries with that?" because no good employer is going to want a person who constantly questions everything.

Good day.

The rep thread got locked. There was no flaming. There was no name calling. It was a good discussion and it got closed.

And this is why they're not talking about it:

http://www.thirdage.com/news/japan-radiation-fallout-reaches-california-coast-no-threat-health_3-18-2011

Your comment is just another point of proof of how people are brainwashed into believing the fear-mongering that is going on. I find it odd how paranoid people are over this "nuclear disaster" yet it hasn't come close to Chernobyl or 3 Mile Island yet. Come on people! You stand more chance of dying in a car accident than you do of radiation poisoning! Unless you're within 30 or so miles of the accident site.

It's time people start using their brains, stop spreading rumors and use their energy to worry about something worthwhile.

I disagree. People play games to escape and enjoy themselves. In RL they have to deal with brown-nosing, bullies and jerks. While there seems to be a couple I've met here there should really be no "rep" system here. Just because a person's rep is high doesn't mean they consistently give good advice. Maybe people are sucking up to them for whatever reason. Just because a person has negative rep doesn't really mean they're a bad person either. Maybe someone or a few people just have it out for that person. In RL people are judged enough by others. There's no sound reason to have a system to "judge" the members here. Long time members know who the good members are just as they know who the "troublemakers" are. It won't take long for newbies, like myself, to find out who the quality people are versus the losers.

People want to be here to relax and have fun. Leave the daily grind of being judged in RL.

Hey! There's no need to treat me like that! I made a mistake and didn't catch it when I proofread it! A simple,"I think you made a mistake." would have been better than just making me out to look like an ass. Are you related to Lonny? Your opening comment is below what standard that is currently accepted by rational and sensible people.

Why is it that people on this forum are so hostile and quick to pick out a simple mistake and make a big deal out of it? It sure as hell doesn't make for a very hospitable environment?!

It your local news covering this story?

No they aren't and I'm quite happy about that. Realistically speaking there's no point in even really discussing or worrying about this. If there's going to be a massive radiation leak it's going to happen regardless. I hate the fact that people are spreading rumors along with conflicting news stories. It's nothing more than fear-mongering and unless news stories are based on solid fact or even discussions are based on solid fact it's pointless to worry about it. Yes radiation is leaking. We're told it's reaching the ocean, but who knows for sure. We're told it's leaking via a tunnel with cracked cement, but once again who's to say for sure? Everyone with at least one good brain cell knows that the news is censored. The problem may be worse or it could be nothing to worry about at all.

I prefer to not worry about it and I avoid considering what the media and government expects us to believe.

Another -rep to a person who appears to be a mainstay member of the forum. What's the point of having rep here? 1 person is collecting rep like it's gold and another is collecting smilies like those are gold. Does anyone use this feature like it's intended or is it only used to show who's popular, who's not or to punish someone for not having the same point of view? Kind of like a schoolyard game of 2 for Flinching.

Nothing good comes from nuclear bombs? WWII ended because of 2 of them. Never heard of it? Nukes would remove one part of the problem in the middle east along with a significant part of the users of the bomb. Sure it would take out a lot of civilians, but they're dying right now because of suicide bombers, car bombs, etc. The land would be unusable for a couple of generations thus allowing it to heal and over those generations old wounds would heal as well. In time it would allow a new generation of understanding and peace. Look at the world today. If the nukes hadn't been used 60+ years ago who knows what would the world would be like today? I doubt we'd have the freedoms many of us know and enjoy. When one country or block of people attempt to overlay their beliefs on everyone a good sound ass-kicking is in order. The allies did it to Germany. The US did it to Japan. It's happened time and again throughout history and you have to ask what the benefit of my suggestion would be?

Jacob Lusk is definitely not my favorite either. I just don't think he's that good. To each their own though. That's what makes life so good!

+rep -rep is it really worth worrying about? It's more of a popularity contest on this site and those handing it out like Christmas presents come off like ass-kissers. How about people start taking pictures open-mouthed and posting them in a new thread? I bet we'd see a lot of "brown tongues".
