Yes, there's a new browser about.
Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer and easier.
Well, I shall give it a try, as my IE is very sluggish and sometimes unresponsive.

I tried it. It was OK. I still prefer Firefox and I went back to it. Google still needs some testing and few more tweaks. _________________ -2nd Person to Join

I think because it's the Beta version, it will have some flaws, but anything is better than the IE at the moment.
Did it improve the browsing speed ICBM? |

It did. I found it to be faster than FF to tell the truth. However, I didn't like where the bookmarks were or how they funtioned. The button was on the top RIGHT and only opened a drop down menu. I like to have the side window open all the time with my bookmarks only a click away. I also like the darker colors, easier on my eyes, and as far as I could see Google Chrome didn't offer any theme's at that time. _________________ -2nd Person to Join

I wanted to be able to use Chrome, but frankly it kept crashing over and over because I'm pretty hard on my browsers. The auto completion drove me crazy and the text field editing had redraw problems. Also, it doesn't have certain other features I need all the time like reloading a frameset page, etc. Back to FF for now... |

Thanks for the heads up on that AB. I had considered taking a look, but to be honest I was soo satisfied with my current browser, that I had absolutely no need to. lol.
It sounds more directed at the general surfer as opposed to being universally practical. Which could be bad in the long term. _________________

You are correct on that Mr Jepps Se. I read up, what I could find at the time that is, on it and why Google would introduce a browser of their own. It was said that it was a "no frills, no gimmicks browser". For the older people, 50+, who are still in the infancy of their Internet knowledge this would be a great browser for them. For people such as yourself and Arcadeboss it won't meet your needs. For people such as myself who have a good working knowledge of the 'Net, but don't build websites or play browser based games with lofty requirements Google Chrome would also be suitable. In the end it comes down to what it's planned use is and your personal preferences. I still like FF and probably won't be changing any time soon. _________________ -2nd Person to Join

I've never even heard of it! If it really that new, then I must not have been paying much attention to recent events regarding computer technology… *laughs nervously* |

It's been around for about 2 months now. It's worth having a look at even if you don't use it. _________________ -2nd Person to Join

Chrome still has a long way to go, but then any new browser will.
Chrome's beauty isn't in what it's missing, it's in what it already does that most people will never know about.
Under the hood, it has the potential to radically change the way we view the internet.
just imagine plugins/addons that don't just alter pages or our web experience, but can be placed on the desktop as an application. Imagine a browser where everything runs smoother, more efficiently and if something does go wrong, you can fix it without having to close everything to start over.
The #1 biggest complaint I hear about Chrome so far from users is that it doesn't have Firefox's plugins but how could it? It just came out.
Developers know, however, that making plugins for it will actually be easier and more powerful than Firefox's... developers know that they can make plugins that will convince people to switch.
Google knows it too, and they're counting on it.
Think of Chrome as a house. Google built the foundation. No one will live on some pavement in the dirt. But you get the right architects and developers to put a state of the art mansion on it that has an unlimited number of rooms... people will line up to get in there. _________________ Don't Google it, Just Bing IT!

True enough, but if you don't get people to pitch a tent on the dirt lot then there's no immediate tenants for the house when it's built. _________________ -2nd Person to Join

Wow… that was a nice, beautiful analogy you used for a conclusion there… I'm impressed by your usage of English… |
