|
|
It appears that for any game which uses the Mochigames submission system, I have no way of actually submitting a score to ArcadeBoss. After I enter a name and try to submit a score, the score goes on the Mochigames list but it looks like nothing gets transmitted to AB. I'm using the latest version of Firefox and operating only one tab at a time for AB, so I'm wondering if this is a commonplace problem and/or if there's a workaround for it. |

Play a quick game of Yoko and tell me exactly what happens...
http://www.arcadeboss.com/game-2468-5-Yoko.html
Here is what should happen:
After the game is over, the game goes dark and you see the busy icon at the top left. Then the score is displayed in the score dialog inside the game.
"You scored XXX, submitting your score"
Then the page should automatically change to the typical AB after-game page which displays your monthly placement, score, best for the month, time taken and buttons to play again, etc.

Interesting!
I'm surprised, 777, as generally I find no problem with these Mochi things (as long as you're a little bit patient sometimes, and don't go clicking madly on things before it's had time to do its stuff )
I played Yoko a few days back with no score problem. But now I thought I'd try again, just to check.
Well blow me down, at game end it gave no sign of anything "Mochi", but just eventually brought me back to the main game menu ("Play" etc) - and indeed HADN'T recorded my score.
But - I then tried again - and - it all went as expected, Mochi'd my score just fine (the Mochi hourglass in top left while at the black "Weiring Software" screen) then also AB'd my score too.
So - I'm 2 outa 3 for successful scores on here - no smoke without fire - I'm off to see if I can make it "fail" again. |

Ok, here's what actually happens to me with the quick game of Yoko...
The game goes dark and the busy icon at the top left goes. Then it switches to the score dialog inside the game, but it gives this quote:
"You scored XXX"
Your Name: _______
[Submit score]
After entering name and hitting submit score it gives a request for me to claim a name via Facebook. Since I don't use Facebook, I click the "No thanks" button. A "Working" w/ busy icon dialog appears, and then the Mochi scoreboard shows up. Closing the dialog box then returns me to the Yoko title screen.
Playing a 2nd game thereafter skips the Facebook request but submitting the score still results in the game going from the "you scored" dialog to the Mochi scoreboard. So it looks like the switch to the usual AB post-game page never occurs. |

Okay, thanks for taking the time to do that.
It sounds like your browser is getting confused by the javascript that enables the mochi scores to submit. It seems to be defaulting to thinking that you are not logged-in here at AB.
Please try the same test again, but with a different broswer than you normally use. Like FireFox or IE. |

Thanks ArcadeBoss. The Yoko test worked fine in IE, but more importantly, once you mentioned javascript I realized the problem was with one of my Firefox browser add-ons. Reconfiguring the add-on fixed the problem, and those Mochi games work fine now. |

That's exactly what I do when the same thing happens to me, change or reset the browser I'm using.
The real problem is when you win a tournament (as neeraffa last month) and you can´t save your record and don´t have the opportunity to repeat the highest score for a matter of time or simply because that was your best performance in that game.
I show the pic that appears when this comes to pass, as you can see is shorter than when there´s no problem to save the score.

Hi there 777.
I was just perusing this thread (and others) looking for a clue to help someone else - and I wonder if you'd mind adding a little further detail, like which FF add-on, and what/how did you reconfifure.
Such info might just be useful for the next unwary soul who passes this way seeking succour! |

The add-on was NoScript, whose design is set up to block JavaScript, Flash and other plug-ins from working by default unless you whitelist or temporarily allow specific sites. So my problem was that I had whitelisted only arcadeboss.com, thinking that for the Mochi games it was just some Mochi interface that the AB site just tossed into some games, and that all the necessary communications would occur through just the arcadeboss.com site. But since the Mochi interface actually needs to communicate with its own servers before forwarding the score data to the AB site, I had to whitelist their sites as well.
Simply put, to get the Mochi games working smoothly on this site when running Firefox with NoScript, you need to whitelist four sites:
arcadeboss.com
mochiads.com
mochigames.com
mochimedia.com |

I'm using Safari, and it only submitted my score the first time that I played. For some reason, whenever I start a game, and I hear a commercial going on the background, but I can't actually see it, the submission bug goes hand in hand. |
