I like both new and older games, but lately I haven't been playing many modern games because I don't have own a console. My favorite genre is probably action.

I have to side with the older games here. Nowadays it's pretty easy to find an old classic to play anytime, anywhere. It just feels like that the only current-gen games that get much attention these days are either an exercise game on the Wii or a FPS or sports game on Xbox360/PS3. Sure a good fighting game or RPG will get some attention, but they just seem to be coming few and far between. Then, there's the biggest reason I've got no interest in buying a current-gen console... and that is I'm in the US, but all the worthwhile games (to me) are region-locked to Japan or Asia only.

I probably prefer newer games like Punch-out Wii or Infamous to older games but I certainly appreciate the classics.
