as a bass player myself im curious to see which people every1 else thinks is the best bassist.

john entwistle- The who
has impossible bass lines
geddy lee- rush
keep in mind he has complicated bass lines and sings a play keyboard with his feet
john paul jones- led zeppelin
he was very good at making up bass lines for songs like what is and what should never be
gene simmons-kiss
he has the sickest lines ever and is also straight edge. he also sings

this is tough cause i dont really know who plays bass in most bands. the guitarist usually gets all of the credit.

Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) - is great bass guitarist, but also very good singer and songwriter.

Steve Harris



Steve Harris and Cliff Burton are the 2 greatest bass players in Heavy Metal history. That's my opinion. In case you don't know Cliff was the original bass player for Metallica and Steve Harris is the bass player for Iron Maiden and not only is he the bass player but he is also their main songwriter. Harris is the mastermind behind such classics like Number of the Beast and Hallowed Be Thy Name.
