According to the Wall Street Journal, federal authorities seized 9 domain names of sites that were offering pirated movies.

The nine domain names were registered using U.S.-based registrars, allowing authorities to take control of their site addresses.

Some of the sites themselves were run on computers based in the U.S, in Colorado, Florida and Illinois, but others used computers based in Germany, the Netherlands, the U.K. and the Czech Republic.

The domain names seized according to the report were:

TVSHACK.NET, MOVIES-LINKS.TV, FILESPUMP.COM, NOW-MOVIES.COM, PLANETMOVIEZ.COM, THEPIRATECITY.ORG, and ZML.COM, NinjaVideo.net and NinjaThis.net.

That what you will see going to anyone of those domains.

These sites allegedly allowed visitors to stream or download popular television shows and movies.

Thoughts on US Government who has taken full control of the domains without any hearing or court case? Or fair game?

I say fair game. let the content thieves rot.

i always say this but leave these people alone already. the entertainment industry has the kohones to charge 10 bucks for a movie ticket and upwards of 25 for a new dvd, people should be pirating them.

Funny how people complain on a measly 10-20 dollars today for movies or music. broke bums. I say get a job, of better yet create your own content copy right it then have some one come along a steal it. How do you pay for actors/ actresses/sit ins movies crews and so on. One couldn't.

Better yet create your own game site and steal ABs own games that he spend hours on programing I sure he wont care.

Then put your own water marks on them going back to your site and take full credit on creating them your self with out giving mark any credit.

And heres a little something on ZML.com that site was huge in fact they had their own affiliate program that paid 30% on sales and rebills. Membership was $39.99 a month and you could download unlimited movies direct from them.

They did all this under Russian laws. If a idiot wants to use a .COM domain{s} then they should have their sites pulled.

Their will be more common in the near future.

yes but they are taking your money. It would be like you paying someone to compliment you so yeah i would never let anybody steal my production! Wasting all my hard work to give people i dont know money! They should just go to the Movies or wait till it's out on DvD and buy it so they can watch it as much as they like! Mad

utorrent and the like will soon follow.

Since this looks like a true success I think this will be more
common in the future.

You see it doesn't matter who the registrar[s] are.
No matter were in the world they are located they will be
caught and shut down .COM, .NET, and many other TLDs are controlled by the US government.

The US ultimately controls the Internet, via IANA,
which is operated by ICANN on behalf of the US Commerce Department.

Theses dot TLDs is operated by VeriSign, a US company.
That ultimately puts almost all .COM domains
under the jurisdiction of the US government.

Now one can always go and register a china or iran domain.

We all know .COM is king thats why their always used.

Besides China's own TLDs will only be available through Chinese networks. The "Great Firewall of China" as they call it was made to keep certain parts of the internet off limits to its citizens and outside worlds. Their for making it useless for sites like these to pop up.

Since both the R.I.A.A and the M.P.A.A has gotten tired of going after suing people and wasting time and money pulling ones domain is alot faster and cheaper.

Causing down time registering a new domain name.
Most of these type of sites have domains on stand by.
Getting re indexed by the search engines and also re emailing all the clients to get the word back out. Takes time.

What the government should do on top of pulling these TLDs
is go after the ISP's, web hosting host and search engines since most are
US based and use it's online dominance to stop it from their as well.

No search engine = no traffic.
No Host = No website
and so on.

I'm not a lazy bum and I go out and buy stuff if I can. If for some reason I don't make money for a few months then I might try to use one of those websites but I have always believed that if you don't go out and buy your favorite bands new album then you simply aren't a true fan. Your a cheap wannabe fan. They do make albums for a reason you know. They don't make them so they can be dust collectors on a shelf.
