In my 40+ years on this planet I have learned a few things. One of those life lessons is that if someone that I don't particularly care for was to say something about/to me that I know is either completely false or hurtful I simply let it go.
If I was ever concerned that what that person had said would reflect badly on me, I would tell myself...the people that know me best, the people that REALLY matter know that whatever has been said is indeed not true. Also...
the person who has made the comment has their own reasons for doing so. Do I really care enough to understand why? That answer always comes back the same. NO.
This forum can be treated like a microcosm of Life itself; it is filled with members/people that simply cannot or will not get along with everyone else. That fact simply has to be accepted and move on.
I have read on here about members not having respect for each other.
This is what I know about respect. It does indeed have to be earned but it also has to be taught and learned. In my opinion that is something that has to be taught by the ones closest to that person i.e. parents/guardians, older siblings, relatives, friends etc.
To think that someone will gain this ability from an online forum, well it just isn't going to happen. Take a worse case scenario, someone gets banned for life for their comments made in a forum. The person may feel bad for a short time but then a few clicks of a mouse and voila a new account is created either on this site or another one and in the end no lesson has been learned. Simply stated, there are no real consequences for actions taken in this kind of setting.
I know that when I was younger if I had disrespected an elder there would be he!! to pay when my parents found out or if I disrespected a peer I would end up with a fat lip.
It takes real life experience to gain/learn respect and no matter how much technology tries to take over every aspect of our society there will always be some things that require real physical contact with another person in order to be leaned and/or truly appreciated.
These are just my thoughts on what has been written in the forums lately.
My personal opinion is that everyone on here is different, I would like to share something in common with everyone but I am also a realist and know that isn't always possible. When I read different posts I try hard to find something that I can relate to and hopefully find a common interest in. If I read something that I don't appreciate or care for I disregard it and move on. I take the same mentality with me in my dealings with everyday life, because to quote a highly overused expression...Life is way to short.
Cheers,

that is one of the best threads i have read on here for a long time.
it has compounded what i have been saying for months.
i to are heading towards 50 and have seen a lot of crap in my time, people hurt, threatened, abused, and shown up in front of others.
i have been around and seen what happens to people ( especially on the net).
it is true you dont get on with everyone, but come on guys this is a gaming site.
i know i am coming to the end of my ab experience, but if any site gives you grief or whatever else, take my advice and ignore it.
there is enough rubbish flying around in real life.
and remember there is always the off button, maybe if something is really so bad it might be time to use it.

nick, its a bad idea to say anything about punctuation....and what was all that wrong with what you quoted, i missed an apostrophe on the word "wouldn't"
and saying i start all these problems...there has only been one time i have been talked to about something going on in these forums....look in the mirror nick, 90% of the problems on this site start with you...before you start crying all over your keyboard, and spout off a bunch of non sense that has no bearing on what people are talking about, take a second and think about all the crap on this site...your involved in most of it
seriously kid, your better off not saying anything...you make yourself look worse and worse every time you reply...i almost died when you said you were 14....for the last year or so, i thought you were like 8 years old from the posts on here
a little advice, dont run your mouth like a tough guy, and then when someone confronts you about it, pull the, "threatening a 14 year old, so tough"
and, its funny how you keep bringing up neerafa lying to everybody, like its some big conspiracy...you never mention your boyfriend saying the exact some thing neerafa did
nick, take a little advice a grow the hell up _________________

I don't care who's side you think I'm on. All you flamers can carry on in your little delusion that I am some kind of biased bully as much as you want since it is and always has been exactly that - a delusion.
It is precisely this reason I have tried over and over again to retire from the forum mod side of things but unfortunately no-one else wants to moderate user behaviour around here.
So shut your very rude little mouth.
I said there are to be no arguments and there won't be or else.
Thank you. _________________

Great post. Well before reading that I decided to not get involved in this newest thing and stay out of it. I know what will happen if I dont. Time to move on and ignore.
While I am at it, I might just leave. _________________ https://www.facebook.com/groups/moviesnshows/?ref=bookmarks |

There is a reason why when you go to your profile page you will not find an option to hide posts from members you do not like.
That reason is human brain power.
Even if Nick.P had said something pre-emptive, if you cannot merely ignore as you call "a little 14 year old kid" then you are certainly not any older or better than "a little 14 year old kid" yourself.
As such, your own "little 14 year old kid" response was ignored. _________________

Had a job interview today and I thought it went well... I keep wondering if maybe there was something else I should have said to increase my chances, though. I really hope I get the job. |
