I am 100% Italian and I live in Italy!
I think that the U.S. will get more medals, and Italy will take from 25-30 medals as Pechino2008 Crying or Very sad
The strengths of our team are definitely the fencing and swimming (with Ferderica Pellegrini), something you'll get with the cannotaggio, judo and rhythmic.
attention to women's tennis. Wink

I can't wait for some Olympic soccer. The major sports are usually where my interest lay, track and field is always fun to watch as well.

I too like watching the high profile events. Track and Field will probably get my attention the most. I will also pay pretty close attention to the swimming and the rowing events because traditionally Canada does pretty well there.
I suspect will we probably win our usual 20 medals or so. We seem to be a lot better at the Winter sports for some reason. Very Happy

I live about 6 miles from the Ricoh Arena or 'The City Of Coventry Stadium' as it has to be known for the olympics and to be honest, the organisation of the football there is an absolute shambles. The stadium does have car parks that can hold several thousand vehicles and yet the BOA and the local council have decided that there will be 'NO PARKING' at the venue. You have to park an extra 4 mile away and get a local bus over to the venue.
Personally I'd much rather have had the cycling events closer to home but it had to be football (which I don't like) so I'm not paying much attention to the whole lot of it.
GB will probably win about 23 golds but 10 of them will come from the cycling and only about 4 will be from track and field with the rest being from sailing/shooting/boxing.

I live in Ireland but I'm originally from Germany. So far it looks like China are leading. Germany only has like two golds for far. I sure hope they get more! ^^

USA here.

Hard to believe china is breaking all kinds of records and giving the US a hard time.

With that 16 year old who broke 2 records i believe it was the 50m and 400m.

Would make some even me go hum...

Go Team USA...

Whats this I hear? Michael Phelps clinched his 19th Olympic medal n the men’s 4 x 200-metre freestyle relay, which makes him the most decorated Olympian in history.

I can live with that.

Watch it get beat by that kid again.

U.S. all the way. China is doing great again but there has been controversy with them before so it's hard to trust that they are completely playing fair.

I think USA will come out on top for the most gold medals, just in swimming we already have 16 medals total. 6 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze.

GO USA!!

marcman88, I hope you will forgive me for editing the title of this topic.

I felt that since Arcade Boss has been around since 2006 that it might be best to distinguish this summer Olympics from the previous one that happened back in 2008 by adding the year 2012 and London to the title of this topic.

If there are any objections, I will change the topic title back to "Summer Olympics" as it was originally!

LOL at China' s team which quits badminton for match-fixing which resulted in a disqualification.

Seems China 's not alone Korea and Indonisiea did the same.

Your world class players people want to see them perform at his and her s best.

BTW when did badminton become a Olympic sport? I don't remember seeing it in any past events, or may be I wasnt paying close enough attention.
