Lance Armstrong is now not only stripped of his 7 Tour de France wins but he is also banned from the sport for LIFE! This was announced on Monday.

His interview with Oprah Winfrey is coming TODAY too!

What do you think of the formerly famous and now infamous cyclist?

I still have a tremendous amount of respect for the guy because of his foundation and the money he has raised for cancer research. They might be able to strip away his titles but they cannot strip away his magnanimous spirit.

To be honest it is a huge disappointment! Lance was not only one of my idols but one of millions of other peoples. To think he could fight cancer and still come out on top it was amazing, truly inspiring. Yea you and I can say all this bad stuff about him, but he is still a hero. A role model (not as a cyclist). As M.O.P said he has done so, so much for cancer research and his foundation. I still think he is a great man tho!

I never wanted to believe Lance used any type of enhancing performance drugs. He finally admitted that he did and now I can't help but wonder who else knew and how they helped him. Afterall, he was tested after every win. Perhaps olympic officials were involved and even tour de france officials. Otherwise how could he continue coming back clean.

honestly i could care a less if he did or if he did not use the drugs. i feel that the way the entire thing was handled was a bit much.

@cberry56

I watched the first half of the interview he did with Oprah Winfrey last night. He was able to test clean all those times because he stopped the blood doping, PEDs etc before the competitions. Back in the day the athletes only got tested during competitions. So what Lance and his team (and numerous other teams) did was to stop all the 'enhancements' prior to competitions. That way everything got a chance to leave their systems and a 'clean' test was all that you could get.

He also said last night that there was only about 5 'clean' cyclists when he was winning all those Tours. Virtually everyone was taking something to improve their performance. He wasn't saying that as an excuse, he was just stating a fact.

It's been a well known fact that most cyclist used PED's the sport has been dirty for a long time. I mean seriously so obvious when records get shattered and these people are doing things unheard of.

Haters gonna hate thats a fact. He's still the champ as far as I'm concerned.

Dope or no dope, he beat everyone else who was also on dope or doped up and beat them.

Others are just pissed that they lost.. Sore losers he was just better at it.

he's smart for doing this interview. america loves junkies as well as come back story's. look at charlie sheen.

I don't follow the sport and I have heard that Lance can be somewhat of a prick at times but the backlash he has seen seems like too much.

That comes with the territory with most atleats not all but most.

Anyone who isn't doping isn't in the Tour De France.

Quote:
"Jacques Anquetil, a French cyclist who won the Tour de France five times in the 1950s and 1960s, openly admitted to doping. “Everyone in cycling dopes himself,” he said in Scott’s 1971 article. “Those who claim they don’t are liars.” In Anquetil’s era, the agents of choice were stimulants such as amphetamines, but as early as the late 1800s cyclists fueled up with a mixture of coca leaf extract and wine called Vin Mariani, according to a 1983 Hastings Center report."

Good article Scientific American on how doping has been in sports for longer than most think.

I can't believe it goes back to the 1800's, which makes me think and wonder could the Romans had doped up back in his time. With out my time machine working I will never know.

Agree with you, temptation to enhance his perfomance was not a good move though but he has done some good and is being honest and open, maybe he is on the road to recovery lets hope so Very Happy
