Whoa, you can't do that too often!
Things I don't like:
Electric power cut just before going to bed, so there is no aircon or ceiling fan, no breeze coming in through the windows, and 30C+ temp. The only thing to do is take a cold shower by flashlight, but the effect of that lasts only a few minutes, and you're lucky if you can get to sleep before you start sweating again. Then the darned mosquitoes start buzzing in your ear because the window is open... |

I been wrestling with something I felt I was wrong about. After 3 weeks or so I finally got it squared away.
Got a whole night sleep last night and just got up at 9:14 this morning..
Things I hate.
People who fart right when I'm in the middle of doing a set on the chest bench.
They think I don't hear it or smell it.

Things I don't like. When all your gadgets give up the ghost at the same time.
Dvd recorder a week ago, computer monitor last night and the daughters galaxy tab this morning, on top of her broken phone screen last month.
What do you replace first? or do you just give up and throw them all away and make do without them? |

Time to go and live in a mud hut, akeo!
It seems these things always happen in threes or more!

Sounds like a good idea to me.
The monitor might be salvagable though, it's got a couple of blown capacitors so once I get my butt into gear and get to the shop and buy some new ones I might get it working again. A couple of ££ to rescue a £120 monitor doesn't sound too bad to me if it works.
Gotta agree with your comment about the forums though. It does always seem to be the same 10 or 15 people posting. |

Sorry, going off-topic for a moment... it's not a Samsung Syncmaster monitor by any chance? I (and many many other people it seems) had that problem with a Syncmaster. It lasted several years, then it started going wrong. Every nine or ten months, I would take the back off, inspect the caps and replace two or three blown ones. Did that three times, so the monitor actually lasted an extra two-three years for a grand total of about two quid
On topic again - Things I don't like:
Wanting to watch a movie I have on DVD, but I can't find it in my shelves. Is it somewhere else in the house, or did someone borrow it and not return it? |

No it's not a syncmaster. It's a Hannspree Hannstar X-ms. I know it's quite old now but it's been a really good monitor and I don't really want to replace it because I like the thing.
It could be the inverter but with 5 of the caps being bulged at the top, I'm going to try them first. Cheapest option and I don't mind doing them. I've done a Pioneer SA9500 amp and a Technics STZ45L tuner before but I've never done inverters or ccfl's before, but it's a case of how much money do you throw at something before admitting it's dead.
Probably going to take me a couple of days though because I don't like getting the soldering iron out when the Grandson's charging around cause at 16 months old, he don't listen to "don't touch that it's dangerous".
Still, rather play with him and make him happy than fix circuit boards. |
