Storm has suggested some games on ArcadeBoss could/should be removed (or at least removed from "HiScore" status).
I'm opening this separate thread so some of these may be highlighted and discussed.

Original thread: http://www.arcadeboss.com/arcade-post-30994.html#30994

Marie's Diamond ...: ( http://www.arcadeboss.com/game-2000-12-Maries-Great-Diamond-Chase.html ) I agree. I'd be very surprised if anyone uses a Flash version THAT old any more - I think you can still get a reasonable score by playing it "blind" (even better if you've played a working version and know something about what's in the dark!) - but - how stupid!

Scrabble Blast: ( http://www.arcadeboss.com/game-109-8-Scrabble-Blast.html ) I'm a very good competitive Scrabble player, yet I can't keep up with 1 or 2 others around here. By "never lose" I guess you mean "die"? If so, it's just another "infinite" game, where the spoils go to whoever's prepared to waste - oops, spend - the most time.
In that case I'd NOT like to see it go.

Astro-Blast: I guess you mean Astro Flash ( http://www.arcadeboss.com/game-2105-7-Astro-Flash.html )?
Again I see little reason to kill this one. It's a fun little game, it functions quite adequately, maybe SOME players are good enough to score infinitely - but I (so presumably many others) can't get anywhere near that, so there's still tons of fair challenge.

And my own first nomination: Easy Chess ( http://www.arcadeboss.com/game-419-8-Easy-Chess.html )
It's a nice clean interface, it knows MOST of the rules, and I can tolerate it playing a poor game, but the scoring ? No matter if you win, lose, or draw, your SCORE is always simply based on how long the game lasted!
(Alekhine and Capablanca would turn over in their graves Wink )

Which games are YOUR personal hates ? (and why?)

Marie's got the axe. I kept it for a while because it was still working for many people and popular, but now it's time to go.

Eagle_Kiwi, on that chess game you mentioned, if we could somehow change the scoring to be the "least amount of moves, least time" would be more appropriate I believe.

Or if there was a chess game where you got points for taking their pieces, lost points for losing pieces, and scored by the shortest time as well, then that would be the ideal chess game.

Interesting points, Khelos.
True I guess, but AB doesn't have access to meddle with the internals of games on here. There are probably plenty of other various chess games about - I think this one is best ditched, or at least "DE-Hi-Scored" (and I'm costing myself a hard won AllTime here! Wink)

Actually real chess doesn't lend itself to a "HiScores" situation - either you WIN or you don't, but I guess a version that graded you for winning in the fewest moves would be reasonable.

I've been playing the game "blood red" ( http://www.arcadeboss.com/game-2494-9-Blood-Red.html )for a while now, and I can see that the score you get is in horde mode, and timed, and there's no way I'd ever get hurt.. it's just a huge "who can point and shoot longer." I'm in favor of deleting or dropping the high score option for this.

I'm also in favor of dropping "Crystal Eater" ( http://www.arcadeboss.com/game-256-3-Crystal-Eater.html ) just another time absorber game. (just pushing around the blocks on level 1 for infinite score).

I'm not good enough (and/or haven't tried hard enough!?) at Blood Red to have ever got to any "infinity" stage. But I believe you on that, Khelos. Any of these "infinity"-type games of course take a certain level of skill or knowledge to reach that point.

I sure agree that Crystal Eater is another one, along with Acorn's Adventure, Artillery, Cauldron II, Castlevania, Cricket In The Computer World, Dungeon Hunt (ALMOST infinite!), Funny Bubbles, GROW, Magical Stars, Odd One Out, Scrabble Blast, Sim Lemonade, Sushi Dash, Treasure Caves 2, Virble, etc .......
Hmmm, those are just ones *I* know of - I think SoulTaker might add at least Classic Video Poker, The Mystic Way, and Splitty to that list.

I admit *I* am probably the biggest user/beneficiary of these "infinity" games lately, but I still think that removing ALL of those would leave a gaping hole. Besides - as TheBlueSamurai expresses well over in the original thread (see link at top of this one) - why NOT have some games that are purely time based ?
Some games cater for those who have fast fingers, others for those who can multi-task, others for those who're brainy - this is really just another category along with all those ones!

Besides, until one reaches the infinity stage there is still usually a lot of play/learning/improvement underneath that - perhaps a shame to deprive newbies of that level of challenge!?

Gosh, TheStorm sure opened a few worm cans!! ROTFL

I don't believe in getting rid of or limiting the number of games such as those. Blokz is another one that could be added to that list. It took me a little over 2 hours to achieve a highscore and someone took it by only a couple of hundred thousand or so. I haven't tried to beat the score lately as I haven't had a spare 2-3 hours to do it. I believe that if you have that kind of time to spend and can last that long playing ONE GAME then you have earned the right to have the top spot. If you're not into endurance gaming then maybe playing those type of games is something you should stay away from.
